FIVE men accused of the murder of two men in northeast Guadalcanal will return to the Honiara Magistrates’ Court again on February 20.
The matter will be heard before the Chief Magistrate Emmanuel Kouhota.
The chief magistrate was unable to hear the case yesterday as he was presiding over a trial.
Acting deputy chief Magistrate Jim Seuika had to adjourn the matter so that it goes before the chief magistrate for proper instructions.
Dudley Seko, Lee Teteo and Ben Tabugao, Terry Grenta and Nickson Manengele, all from Guadalcanal, are facing two counts of murder.
The deceased men were walking along the Guadalcanal Plains Palm Oil Ltd (GPPOL 2) road on May 18, last year, when they were allegedly attacked.
Prosecution alleged the accused and others who came by in a vehicle attacked them.
It was further alleged that the accused then allegedly run the two
deceased over in their vehicle and left their dead bodies under the
palm trees.
Prosecution alleged the incident occurred following a disagreement between the two parties over land issues.
The accused however, denied the allegations.
Private lawyer Rodgers Tovosia yesterday confirmed representing Grenta while the others are represented by the Public Solicitor’s Office.
