Two men accused of a brutal murder of a man in 2011 are now committed to stand trial in the High Court.
This followed a committal hearing conducted yesterday in the Honiara Magistrate Court that saw sufficient evidence against them to stand trial in the High Court.
Sikua and Seford Sikua are both facing one count of murder following an allegation on March 11, 2011 at Dudula Village, East Guadalcanal.
Both men are co-accused with another accused Harold Saea who is also in custody.
The men were accused of being part of a group of men who allegedly went to Dudula and murdered the deceased.
Prosecution alleged the deceased was attending a reconciliation meeting when the group of men arrived.
The meeting was said to been organised by chiefs in that area to settle a claim that a little girl died as a result of sorcery.
The accused men and the group arrived at the meeting spot and argued with the deceased and then chased him.
The main suspect in this murder case who is still on the run allegedly
chased the deceased with a bayonet.
It was alleged that Saea allegedly intercepted the deceased while running which resulted in his fall and assaulted him.
The main suspect then allegedly took the bush knife he was holding and brutally butchered open the deceased’s belly.
The deceased died shortly after he was knifed.
