The High Court of Solomon Islands now has a Deputy Chief Justice. He is Justice Francis Mwanesalua, CBE.
He was sworn in at Government House yesterday in the presence of other puisne judges, staff of the High Court and family and friends.
This is the first time Solomon Islands has a Deputy Chief Justice and this was made possible under the Constitutional (Amendment) Act 2009 which amended section 78 of the Constitution.
Justice Mwanesalua has served on the High Court Bench as judge for a long time prior to his latest appointment as Deputy Chief Justice.
