Sports men and women in Central Marovo, Western province have acknowledged My Magazine Director Dekon Koung and his associate sponsors for hosting the Marovo Open Challenge.
Marovo Open Challenge featured soccer seven a-side, netball and volleyball which was staged at Busuana village in Central Marovo, Western province.
Reports reaching Star Sports stressed the competition was very successful despite few hiccups with during the final day of the competition.
The report said people with in Marovo Lagoon really enjoyed competition.
During the weeklong competition, awareness were conducted by Honiara policing team as well as health awareness mainly from dental matters.
In response to the acknowledgment My Magazine Director Koung said credit must be given to Our Telekom for sponsoring the consolation prizes which included mobile phones, T- shirts and other Telekom products.
Our Telekom also branded the playing ground with their spectacular promotional posters.
Koung also thanked Dental Division of the Ministry of Health for providing colgate and tooth brushes which was distributed during the competition.
Vavae Cats snatched the top prize in the soccer competition after beating Telina Blue in the grand final.
The third prize was shared between Chea and Matagara.
Both teams could not proceed with the losers final match due to lack of time.
For volleyball, Telina A scooped the top prize after edging Chea in the final while Telina B settled for third position.
And for netball, Vavae of Bisuana village and Bareho shared the first and second prizes while Chubikopi snatched the third prize.
The grand final could not be staged due to due to heavy rain.
Meanwhile Koung will organise another competition at the end of this year during the Christmas and New Year holiday.
