Naha Community High School in east Honiara opened a new classroom for its Early Child Education (ECE), Friday.
School principal John Francis Mamani said this was a new dawn for the ECE division of the school.
“Thank teachers, parents and guardians for your working together that resulted in this building that we are here to witness its opening today,” Mamani said.
He added that the construction of the building is not as easy but through the working together of everyone, they were able to achieve great results.
Mamani said the new classroom building cost $320,000.
The principal added through contributions from the school’s secondary and primary divisions, they were able to complete the building this year.
“Work on the classroom started last September and finished this month.
“Indeed it is a new dawn for the school, which always strived for improvement,” he said.
Honiara City Council Education Principal Officer Obed Zutu said this is one of the best ECE buildings in HCC schools.
“ECE is the foundation of education so we must build good classrooms for them,” Zutu added.
“Other schools in Honiara have used smaller leaf houses as classrooms for ECE, but I hope they’ll learn from Naha School,” he added.
“Thank you Naha School for showing the way for others in Honiara and the country.”
Zutu appealed to students of the school to look after the new facility.
The new building has three classrooms in it and offices for the ECE division.
ECE students will start using the classroom this week.
