THE recent increase in COVID-19 cases in Honiara has forced Naha Clinic to close after a number of health workers at the clinic tested positive to COVID-19.
A notice pinned outside the clinic gate on Friday last week stated that Naha Clinic will be closed for an indefinite period.
The notice advised sick patients to go to Kukum clinic for health services.
Permanent Secretary (PS) of the Ministry of Health and Medical Services Pauline McNeil on Sunday has also issued a warning that the National Referral Hospital now a no-go-zone as the second wave of Covid-19 looms.
Mrs McNeil said those who have family members at NRH must minimize or refrain from making any visit to them.
Since the start of COVID-19 community transmission, Honiara has recorded 6662 positive cases, and of this figure, 1105 cases are from the current second wave of COVID-19 infections which started accumulating since 13th April.
Since Wednesday 13th April the number of COVID-19 cases have jumped from 22 cases per day, and now to about 400 cases per day.
The PS McNeil said with these increasing figures, she encouraged those in the country who are still to be vaccinated to immediately do so because the second wave of COVID-19 infection has loomed.
