RESIDENTS in Naha, East Honiara are not happy with the long delay of buses to arrive at their bus-stops.
This happened after the Honiara City Council (HCC) had re-introduced the long bus routes in the past weeks.
Previously when buses used to run short bus routes, buses normally arrive in time to pick up passengers and dropped them off at SDA bus-stop.
Now passengers have to wait for hours because buses decided to pick up passengers at Kobito, Borderline and Green Valley destined for Central Market.
One of the residents feared when school semester resumes at the end of this month, students will be heavily affected to arrive in time for their classes.
He said this is because they will wait for hours to get to school in time.
“The only option is for students to get up very early or walk up to Kobito and Zion bus-stops to get bus to the City,” he added.
However, one bus driver blamed the bad condition of road at Naha that prevented them from coming down to pick up passengers.
He said if the condition of the road is improved, buses will be happy to come down and pick up passengers.
Its understood the Indigenous Bus Owners Association of Solomon Islands (IBOASI) is expected to meet with Honiara City Council to discuss issues relating to the impact of the long bus routes in a date to be set.
