IN a post-match interview with the OFC media, the Bilikiki Head Coach James Naka says he was very happy with the performance of his boys in their grand final match against the Tahitian Tiki Toa last Saturday.
Naka described the match as a ‘50/50 showdown’, for which he was really proud of the performance of his boys.
“I’m very proud of my boys in today’s game. It was just like a 50/50 game. Even though we missed one of our golden chances in the last period, I’m still very satisfied with the performance of my boys because they have done really well.”
Naka said the crowd really enjoyed the game because it was really tough and despite the loss, the home crowd was still satisfied with the performance of his boys.
“The Bilikiki boys will come back strong and do their best in the next tournament next year because today’s game is just a 50/50 game,” he added.
He said his boys performed really well but the game turned out unexpectedly in the favor of the Tahitians.
“I think the home crowd did expect more from us by the way they turned up in huge numbers. But it was all about soccer because one team had to win and one had to lose and so we accept the loss today because there is no excuse.
“There is no excuse. The boys did perform very well today. Both teams fought each other’s spirit neck-to-neck in their goals and I hope the people watching the match really enjoyed this.
The legendary Head Coach played for the Bilikiki’s in all their four World Cup appearances in the past from 2006 to 2009 and he was known for his acrobatic ability and his powerful left foot and was the most feared beach soccer athlete in Oceania.
