SIX Nauru police officers who have undergone a public order management (POM) training program at the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) academy are into their final part of their training after successfully completed the theory part of the training on Wednesday.
Police chief Frank Prendergast said RSIPF is privileged to host the Nauruans and is glad to know how well the training has progressed.
Prendergast said the six officers will undergo further two days of outdoor training before completing their training.
He said hosting officers from a neighbouring country is a good sign for the force and acknowledged the Participating Police Force (PPF) and RSIPF for providing the knowledge and skills to these officers.
Consultations and negotiations were traded between the Nauru Police Force and the local police force during which the training arrangement was made possible, he explained.
The training become apparent following a formal request from the head of the Nauru Police Force which disclosed their interest in sending officers to undergo public order management trainings under the RSIPF program.
