The National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) and its disaster management stakeholders and partners have been tirelessly working together in finalising an early response plans for the current disaster.
This came after completing the Disaster Risk Analysis (DRA) generated from the Initial Situational Overview (Aerial Assessment), and a rapid community assessment done over phone and the baseline data for the priority Islands of Provinces of interest. The DRA was done by the NEOC at the NDMO.
Chief Operations Officer, Mr. George Baragamu said, the Initial Situation Overview (Aerial Assessment) was relevant and that it provides the NEOC with vital imageries on the impacts of TC Pam.
He said, after completing the Disaster Risk Analysis, NEOC identified the most likely affected sectors and therefore specific recommendation has been drawn to concerned sectors in responding to the issues.
On that note, The National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) assured its commitment in supporting impacted provinces.
Provincial Disaster Operations Committees for Malaita, Temotu and Makira had respectively had a series of meetings over the past days in identifying available resources and needs to support the disaster response.
The National Disaster Management Office acknowledges the support of the Australian Government is facilitating the use of its aircraft to conduct the ISO (aerial assessment).
