The National Disaster Operations Centre is now on “Full Activation Mode” following the announcement of the sixty hours lockdown for Honiara Emergency Zone effective as of 6pm Wednesday night (19th January 2022).
NEOC has been activated on “Standby Mode”, supporting preparedness and response actions since last year under the National COVID-19 Preparedness and Response Plan.
However, now with community transmission, it has shifted to “Full Activation Mode” to coordinate COVID-19 response actions by supporting the National Disaster Operations Committee (N-DOC) and Provincial Emergency Operations Centre (P-DOC) throughout the nine provinces and Honiara City Council.
The centre has also activated its COVID-19 contingency plan.
NEOC is part of Governments’ overall coordination response mechanism under the country’s disaster management arrangements. For COVID-19, NEOC is the engine room that ensures COVID-19 response intents of the Government are implemented in a coordinated manner.
