The newly constructed Auki Police Station will be officially opened soon.
That’s according to the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast when responding to questions from the local media yesterday.
He said, at the moment, officers are being stationed in the newly built police station awaiting the official opening.
“We have moved our officers into the building and there will be a formal opening in the near future.
“The reason why we moved the officers in before the formal opening is to make sure that everything in the building is functioning correctly,” Mr Prendergast said.
He added, the official opening is a significant event and he wants the opening to be done properly and according to plan.
Mr Prendergast also said that the new police station has really improved the police capacity in Auki when compared to the old accommodation.
The expected opening will be in three weeks where they will advice the date in an appropriate time.
