SINIS-HP facility for Beach Soccer, Volleyball nears completion
BEACH sport athletes will soon have the opportunity to train at their new training venue at the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sports (SINIS) headquarters.
Reports from SINIS confirmed 90% of the work has been completed.
The final area of the work progress is filling the pitch with sand which is what has been happening during the week.
“Despite, recent works on the project were being halted due to the recent bad weather, working progress is on track to deliver the facility.
“Once all the sand has been delivered from the screening site to the SINIS, that component of the project is deemed complete.
“Spreading and leveling of sand onto the 31m x 26m facility space will be the final phase,” a statement from SINIS confirmed.
The white sand will cover the reach of 40cm deep, across the playing field that will cater for a Beach Soccer Court and three Volleyball Courts.
Solomon Islands Volleyball Federation Morris Maitaiki said this is good news for beach volleyball squad as they will have a proper beach court to train for upcoming sporting events in the region.
Maitaki thanked SINIS and the Government for making this facility available for volleyball.
One of SINIS’s objectives is to create a great sport environment for all National Sports Federations (NFs).
