THE Anglican Church of Melanesia has a new bishop for the Diocese of Isabel.
The Diocesan Electoral Board of the Anglican Church of Melanesia elected the Reverend Ellison Quity as the sixth bishop for the Diocese of Ysabel.
The meeting, which was preceded by a retreat yesterday,took place at Tete Ni Kolivutu, East of Honiara.
Reverend Ellison Quitycurrently serves as the Principal of Mano Wadrokal School of Theology and Ministry at Tasia, Diocese of Isabel, a post he has held since 2011.
Reverend Quity graduated with a Masters of Theology from the Pacific Theological College in Suva, Fiji in 2010.
He comes from Biluro village Hograno district in Isabel Province.
He is married to Jessie Quity and they have six children. Before joining the Anglican Priesthood, Rev’d Quity was an Agriculturalist by profession.
Reverend Quity,53, succeeds the recently retired Bishop of Isabel Right Reverend Richard Naramana who officially retired in September 2015.
His consecration and installation will be held at Jejevo Parish, Diocese of Isabel, on the 7th February 2016.
The Diocese of Isabel covers the Anglican communities in Isabel, Choiseul, Western and the Russell Islands in Central Islands Province.
The church currently has seven dioceses in Solomon Islands and two in Vanuatu and New Caledonia.
The Senior Bishop, who currently supervises the office of the Archbishop,calls on all members of the Anglican Church of Melanesia to uphold Reverend Quity and his family in prayer as they prepare to take on this important responsibility in the church.
