SINCE the late 1980s Soroptimist International Solomon Islands has been advocating for women.
Twelve years ago the club built nine women’s centres in all nine provinces.
The members have been involved with creating the “Hapi Healthi Kalendar” for years, funding repairs to clinics at the National Referral Hospital and writing books to help women.
The latest book SISI (Soroptimist International Solomon Islands) sponsored is “About Women, For Women, By Women” produced by READ SI.
The launching was last week and hundreds of books were given to women’s groups and networks.
This book was created by Solomon women who asked questions they wanted answers to and then they took those questions to the women in their families and to their female friends to get answers.
These answers are from the women of the Solomon Islands and filled with wisdom and knowledge.
If your club or group would like copies, call the YWCA and ask for Joycelyn Lai.
While this book is meant for women, men also need to read it so that they can understand women better.
