Honiara City Council (HCC) has a new Mayor who was elected on Tuesday.
He is Wilson Mamae who is expected to lead the Council for the next four years.
Clerk Charles Kelly yesterday officially announced the newly elected City Mayor following the election.
Speaking after his victory, the newly elected Mayor said it is a privilege to lead the Council for the next four years.
He thanked the good law abiding citizens of Honiara for having the trust and confidence in all the new Councilors.
He said the role of the City Mayor will not be an easy one because it requires working together by all the twelve (12) Councilors have just been elected to fulfill the wishes of the city residents.
“I believe the 12 councilors that have been elected will implement the plans and objectives they said during their campaigning period,” the newly city Mayor expressed.
He said the burdens of Honiara residents will be carried by the elected Councilors for the next four years.
“We will try as much to revisit all the functions of the council, the structure of the council, and there are some matters to be revisit,” he added.
Cr Mamae is expected to announce his executive soon.
Once the new executive settles down, the Clerk will set a date for all the Councilors to meet and deliberate on HCC matters.
