A senior labour officer Simon Suku was recently appointed as a commissioner for oaths in Solomon Islands.
The two years appointment was made by Chief Justice, Sir Albert Palmer on the 20th May 2014 and it took effect from that date until 20th May 2016.
Simon Suku is a senior labour officer who had served government for the last 24 years.
He is currently in charge of the labour branch office in Auki, located at Cakobau Street.
The new appointment of a commissioner for oaths in Auki made it very convenient for those seeking legal declarations, affirmations and so forth.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Suku said he was happy to take up the tasks of a commissioner for oaths.
“Knowing many people are seeking legal declarations in Auki nowadays, I submit an application to be a commissioner for oath. And I am grateful indeed for the appointment,” said Mr. Suku.
In Auki or in Malaita province the need for the services of commissioner for oaths became a need following the departure of two commissioners towards the end of last year.
And this had made it difficult for anyone requiring these legal services.
Therefore, the new appointment will certainly ease the problem of getting quick assistance from the commissioner for oaths.
People seeking legal declarations in Auki, can visit the labour office during working hours and see Mr Suku.
