ASIA Pacific Sustainable Development Rural Training Centre (APSD) in Fiu central Kwara’ae Malaita province has taken delivery of new a staff house and a student ablution block on Wednesday.
The staff house and ablution block was funded by the Japanese government as part of friendship, partnership and working together with Solomon Islands government.
The new staff house and ablution block was described as a mile stone achievement for APSD Rural Training centre.
This means the staff house will accommodation for a staff while students will also start to benefit from a new set of ablution block.
Speaking at opening and handing over of the news facilities APSD principle John Mark Male said the new staff house and ablution block has reflect value of need for housing and health and sanitation for APSD.
“These infrastructures are new development not only for APSD rural training centre but for surrounding communities, and schools in and around Fiu area,” Mr Male said.
Mr Male acknowledged the government and people of Japan for recognition and trust in addressing housing and sanitation need for APSD Rural Training centre.
He also acknowledged Solomon Islands Association of Vocational Rural Training Centres (SIAVRTC) for support in recommending the need for APSD new staff house and boy’s ablution block.
Japanese Embassy project coordinator Ms Mariko Obari acknowledged APSD management for the commitment in completing the project.
“These developments are part of ongoing partnership and friendship among Japanese government and Solomon Islands government.
“The buildings look excellent and beautiful. These buildings are yours, take good care and look after it,” Ms Obari said.
The new staff house and Ablution block cost Japanese government total of SBD $594,660.00 under grass root human security program.
The teacher and students will now be responsible to take a good look after the infrastructures.
