A NEW JICA volunteer who will work as a business administrator at the Auki market and the Malaria Centre is now in Auki town after arriving on Friday.
Toshiaki Sakamoto replaced a JICA Volunteer Naoki Kayano who did the same work.
Mr Sakamoto when speaking to the paper said, he is ready to serve the people of Malaita.
“I’m ready to work with the people of Malaita for next two years.”
He said as a new comer in Auki he felt at home already because people are friendly and greeted him by saying hallo whenever they meet him.
He promised to work hard and implement changes at the market for the good of the market vendors.
“I called on the market vendors and the people in Malaita Province to work with us to administer Auki market for the benefit of the people,” Mr. Toshiaki said.
Market Manager Betty Kwanairara will assist him take care of the market and its administrative work.
Ms Kwanairara while welcoming the new volunteer said, they need everyone’s support so that they can work to serve the market vendors.
“I’m glad to have the new JICA volunteer all the way from Japan who has come to work with us here in Auki.”
She also thanked JICA for allocating a volunteer to support the market administration.
