The Auki Academic Community School (AACS) was officially opened on Thursday at Kwaibala riverside in Auki Malaita province.
The newly opened school will focus on training mechanics.
The school’s motto is: “Learning Our Ways Forward.”
Speaking during the official opening school director John Ulasi said, Auki community and the township have been without such a learning center for quite a long time.
“Auki township is proud to have in place such a potential learning center for the first time ever.
“The aims and objectives of this center is to initiate skilled training maintenance, repairing and servicing mechanical approaches.
“The training will be on manual serving mechanics parts, maintenance, repairs and block courses.
“The training of 2 to 4 stroke engines maintenance and repair on block courses, provide for school dropouts from primary, secondary, and tertiary level.
“It expects to create a sense of self reliance on live skills which involves in modern ways to sustain a living,” Mr Ulasi said.
He added that their mission was to support and promote the rural population realise the potential in sustainable development which enhance utilization of the human resource in helping themselves.
A number of officials from the Malaita provincial government, education office and church reps, community reps and the public witnessed the opening ceremony.
The newly established mechanic school was located at Kwaibala, a kilometer walk from Auki town.
