A NEW mini hospital called ‘Ravi Ni Laka’ was officially opened at Chichinge village in Malango ward, Central Guadalcanal, on Tuesday.
The hospital is funded under the Ministry of Provincial government’s ‘Provincial Capacity Development Fund’ (PCDF).
Guests who attended the opening include MPA for Malango ward Keit Amasaea and the Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Provincial government and Institutional strengthening Stanley Pirione.
The new health facility will serve thousands of people from Tenaru up to Bemuta at Gold Ridge.
Speaking at the opening ceremony yesterday, Amasaea said spending money to get medical attention is now history for his people.
He said the people of Malango have been without a health facility for more than 25 years and called on his people to look after the new health facility with responsibility.
“The problem of going to the nearest clinic and spending money to get to Honiara to get medical attention will be over,” Amasaea stated.
“Today I want to tell my good people who will benefit from this health facility that their cries for good health service will be over when staff and medial stocks will arrive within the next two months,” he added.
Pirione said the opening of the new health facility reflects the support the national government and the Guadalcanal provincial government has for the health sector.
Mr Pirione said such support from the government will continue not only in Malango ward but other wards of Guadalcanal as well.
“I want to assure the MPA for Malango ward and the Guadalcanal provincial government that the government will continue its support in the health sector and other important services”.
“The responsibility comes to both the national and provincial governments that what our people on the ground want is what we strive to achieve.”
Meanwhile, the name given to the new Mini Hospital ‘Ravi Ni Laka’ means ‘Shelter of Healing’ in the Malango dialect.
