HOURS after sacking two of his senior ministers, Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare wasted no time to bring in their replacements.
Fataleka MP Rex Ramofafia is now the new Minister for National Planning and Development Coordination.
He replaces Rick Hou, a former prime minister and MP for Small Malaita, who got his marching orders yesterday morning.
Baegu-Asifola MP Makario Tagini is the new Minister for Justice and Legal Affairs, replacing Dr Tautai Kaitu’u Angikimua, who was also sacked yesterday.
Angikimua, a two-term politician, is the MP for Rennell and Bellona Constituency.
The two new ministers took their oath in office before Governor General Rev. David Vunagi on Wednesday afternoon.
Ramofafia and Tagini were initially members of the Opposition.
But after their appointments to the bi-partisan task force Prime Minister Sogavare established recently to review our diplomatic ties with Taiwan, they decided to cross to the government side.
The Office of the Prime Minister said in a statement last night reasons for the changes in ministerial portfolios will be announced later.
