SOLOMON Islands Postal Corporation (SIPC) has officially opened its new office building in Auki on Friday.
This marks a significant milestone in the expansion of postal services in the country.
Malaita Province Premier Elijah Asilaua, representatives from local businesses, and senior staff of Solomon Post, including the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Alfred Ghemu attended the ceremony.
In his speech, CEO Alfred Ghemu highlighted Solomon Post’s extensive network, emphasizing that as part of the Universal Postal Union, the service connects to more than 192 countries worldwide.
He said this vast network enables Solomon Post to deliver mail and packages efficiently across the globe.
“Our service offerings continue to evolve to meet the changing needs of the people we serve,” Ghemu said.
“We are proud to be part of the global postal network, which allows us to provide a wide range of services to our customers.”

Key Services Offered by Solomon Post:
1 Mail and Package Delivery:
Solomon Post’s traditional service of reliable mail and package delivery remains a cornerstone of its operations. Through global partnerships with postal services and private logistics companies, Solomon Post ensures efficient delivery to domestic and international destinations. Advanced tracking technology enables customers to follow their items from departure to delivery.
2 E-Commerce and Delivery:
With the rise of e-commerce, Solomon Post has expanded its services to include online shopping deliveries. Customers can have their international purchases delivered via the postal service, whether they have a post box or not. This service has gained popularity, especially among younger generations.
3 Financial Services:
In recent years, Solomon Post has introduced several financial services to support the needs of its customers:
–Ezi Pei Mobile Money: Since gaining approval from the Central Bank of Solomon Islands (CBSI) in 2020, Solomon Post has offered mobile money services, allowing customers to send, receive, and manage money through their mobile phones. The Auki Post Office is among the locations offering this service.
–Domestic Money Transfers: Solomon Post provides domestic money transfer services, which, along with international money transfer services, support people in remote provinces who rely on post offices to send and receive funds.
–Foreign Currency Exchange: Licensed by CBSI, Solomon Post also offers foreign currency exchange services at its Honiara Main Branch, with plans to introduce this service at the Auki Post Office soon.
As part of its commitment to improving service delivery, Solomon Post is also focused on upgrading infrastructure across provincial offices. While full tracking capabilities for domestic mail between Honiara and the provinces are still being developed, the Auki Post Office is among the first to introduce domestic tracking technology.
“We are dedicated to offering accessible, reliable, and innovative services to all our customers, no matter where they are in the Solomon Islands or beyond,” Ghemu concluded.
