THE Solomon Islands National University students association (SINUSA) executive has formally conducted their handing over ceremony yesterday afternoon at Kukum campus.
This was to allow newly elected executive for 2015/2016 to run the association.
In his speech former president Wilson Mae congratulated his successor George Apato and told him to take over from where he left.
“We have done our part for the last two years and this is your term.
“Just put your heads together and go on where from we have left,” he stated.
He said, for the last two years the executive had done its part for students and the new executive must carry on its role.
“Working amongst the thousands of students is not an easy thing as one can think of, it’s a hard job,” he added.
He told the new executive that this life is challenging because they are not going to deal with one student but thousands of students.
He said, that his past team has done their part already and this is the time for the new executive more.
He encouraged the new executive to work together with the campus life department to stand for the welfare of the students at the university.
Newly appointed president, Mr Apato said that he will not promise whatever he will do this year for the students but hope to make success for the students.
“I will not make any promising statement here for the students but I am very happy to take up this role to lead the students for the next two years,” he added.
He thanked the outgoing executive and wished them God’s blessing as they travelled on.
The SINUSA is the only highest legal body to address the issues affecting the lives of the students studying at SINU.
The ceremony yesterday was also attended by the university staff.”
