THE Pacific American Fund (PAF) will launch a new funding window next month and deliver up to SBD$2.8 million worth of awards to local organisations.
These monies are for investment into local organisations and communities.
The US Department of State’s Charge d’Affairs for the Solomon Islands, Russell Comeau, highlighted this when speaking at the launching of the Pacific Health and Sanitation Solution at the Honiara Hotel on Monday this week.
“We want to see more local organisations receive support in response to your unwavering commitment to strengthening the resilience of your communities even in the most difficult of circumstances.
“Please watch our social media channels and website for this funding opportunity.
He added that the US Government is proud to stand with the people of Solomon Islands in achieving our objectives and making a real and lasting difference through these grants.
“I look forward to the success of our new partnership.
“The US Government is committed to working with the (Solomon Islands) Government- implementation partners- and the people of the Solomon Islands as we build a more prosperous future for this country and the entire Pacific Islands region,” Mr Comeau said.
According to USAID, the Pacific American Fund (PAF) delivers grants to a range of new and local partners to help Pacific Island Communities (PICs) adapt to the negative impact of climate change, such as livelihood enhancement, improved health, food security, water availability, ecosystem conservation and better governance.
PAF awards test innovation adaptation measures with the aim of identifying which approaches should be replicated and scaled across communities and across island nations.
