TWENTY SIX newly elected Western Provincial Assembly (MPAs) who secured their seats in the recent election took their oath in Gizo Western Province.
The swearing in ceremony was held at the XL Chacha building on Monday morning at the provincial capital Gizo.
The current Speaker of the Western Provincial Assembly (WPA), Adrian Gina and the Commissioner of the Oath administered the ceremony.
Out of the 26 MPAs, 19 are new ones and 7 have retained their seats. Only 2 MPAs were absent during the swearing ceremony this week.
Among those who took their were MPA for Ward 1 Outer Shortlands – Brian Lotikena, Ward 2 Inner shortlands – Francis Sevio, Ward 3 Simbo – Gideon Tuke, Ward 4 N/Rannogga – Ron Kituru Ghemu, Ward 5 C/Rannogga – Raynix Sigoto, Ward 6 S/Rannogga – Richard Beck, Ward 7 Vonunu – Rence Sore, Ward 8 Mbilua – Kadiba Alu, Ward 9 Dovele – Jennings Movobule, Ward 10 Iriqila- Freedom Tozaka, Ward 11 Gizo- Tapuia Eribati, Ward 12 S/Kolombangara- Jenty Isaac, Ward 13 Vona vona- Alesina Redfern Ward 14 Kusaghe – Kenneth George Nginabule, Ward 15 Lambete- Palin Nanasa Veo Ward 16 Dunde/ Nusa Roviana- Jeffrey Gillian Wickham, Ward 17 Roviana Lagoon- Silas Lezutuni, Ward 18 S/Rendova – Fredrick Alepitu, Ward 19 N/Rendova – Gordon Zebo, Ward 20 Kolobaghea – Opportunity D Kuku, Ward 21 Buinitusu – Edward Ngava ,Ward 22 Nono – Eric Manahan Hitu, Ward 23 Ngatokae – Pitrie Sute, Ward 24 Vangunu – Calrick Runimetu Ward 25 Noro – Billy Veo, Ward 26 N/Kolombangara – Sutcliffe Heke George
Following the sworn in of the new MPAs, Speaker Adrian Gina has announced the nominations of the speaker will open on Wednesday 28th this week.
As announced by the Speaker due to the public holiday, according to the Standing Orders 11, it requires 2 clear days and so the election of the Speaker will be held on Friday this week.
This will be followed by the election of the Premier that will be occurred next week on January 4th 2023.
The new government should be formed in around 5th to 6th January 2023.
