THE new World Health Organisation (WHO) Representative in Solomon Islands, Dr Howard Sobel has presented his credentials to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade (MFAET).
Dr Sobel’s credentials were received by the Supervising MFAET Minister, Peter Shanel Agovaka, yesterday at the MFAET office.
Dr Sobel was accredited by the Director-General of the World Health Organisation, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and WHO Regional Director for the Western Pacific region, Dr Takeshi Kasai.
He said he was honored to take up his new role as the WHO Country Representative in Solomon Islands to serve the government and people of Solomon Islands in the health sector.
Dr Sobel said he is committed to the task ahead of him and to ensure WHO continues to provide support when and where ever needed to the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS).
Minister Agovaka, in turn, welcomed Dr Sobel, expressing appreciation for the support that WHO continues to provide to the Solomon Islands Government through MHMS.
“We truly look forward to working with you throughout your tenure in Solomon Islands and hope that with your support, we can continue to achieve better health outcomes for our people,” Mr Agovaka stated.
