FOLLOWING the election of the country’s next Prime Minister (PM), the appointment of the country’s next Governor General (GG) is up next.
Sir David Vunagi is the current Governor General (GG) and his term will come to an end mid this year.
He was appointed into office on July 7th 2019 and will complete his full term in office within the next two months.
A close source said, a new GG will be appointed soon after the election of the prime minister.
GG oversaw the election of the country’s new prime minister on Thursday.
Jeremiah Manele came out the winner.
The source said, once the election is over, the next event will be the appointment of a new Governor General.
“Nomination is expected to start next week or following once the new government settles down.
“A new GG is always recommended by the ruling government so we will just wait and see,” the source said, adding the current GG also had health issues.
Sir Vunagi just returned from Australia after undergoing medical check.
