ABOUT nine male persons from Quava in South Vella, Western Province have been arrested by officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Gizo following the death of a person.
Reports said, the mass arrest was conducted during an early morning raid at around 4am by Gizo Police.
It was alleged the suspects struck the deceased with a hard object that seriously injured the back of his head and the lower part of the shoulder where the spinal cord is located.
Following the raid all the nine (9) individuals were transported by Police in a fast craft (stubby) where they were charged and remanded in Gizo.
The root cause leading to the death has been traced back to December 2023 when a young boy was found dead after drinking kwaso.
However, it was claimed the young boy was poisoned by someone.
The long-standing issue escalated during the festive celebrations over the weekend, where the nine suspects launched a revenge attack.
It was further claimed the suspects—three juveniles and six young adults aged between 20s and 24s sought vengeance against the person (deceased) whom they accused of practicing sorcery that allegedly caused their brother’s death.
The incident has left the community and villagers in Quava deeply shocked.
