A TOTAL of nine people were the lucky recipients of honours and awards this year.
Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare announced this during the commemoration of the 39th Independence Anniversary last Friday at Lawson Tama.
The recipients are as follows;
- Ms. Georgina Ariki: Solomon Islands Medal (Silver) for long and distinguished service to the government and people of Solomon Islands in customs and excise operations and in various community development;
- Mr. Julian Maka’a: Solomon Islands Medal (Silver) for long and dedicated service to the government and people of Solomon Islands in media, literature, national disaster management and in various community service;
- Mr. Binet Gadapeta: Solomon Islands Medal (Silver) for long and dedicated service to the government and people of Solomon Islands in the field of primary school teaching and community development;
- Pr. George Fafale: Solomon Islands Medal (Silver) for long and dedicated service to the government and people of Solomon Islands in church and community development;
- Mr. Cletus Pita Oengpepa: Solomon Islands Medal (Bronze) for long, dedicated and distinguished service to the government, people of Solomon Islands and the region in the field of marine science, aquaculture and community based marine resource management;
- Rev. Cannon John Pinder: Solomon Islands Medal (Bronze) for distinguished service and commitment to the government and people of Solomon Islands in human resources and community development;
- Ms. Serah Vonita Wickham: Solomon Islands Medal (Bronze) for long and dedicated commitment and service to the government and people of Solomon Islands in the office of customs and excise and community development;
- Mr. Andrew Clinto Kerr: Solomon Islands Meritorious Medal for distinguished and dedicated service to the government and people of Solomon Islands in commerce and community development; and
- Ms. Lilian Nawaro Dagi: Solomon Islands Meritorious Medal for long and dedicated service to the government and people of Solomon Islands in the field of policing for her courageous approach to duty.
