NORTH New Georgia Constituency (NNGC) constituents want their re-elected Member of Parliament, John Dean Kuku to deliver more development projects in the constituency his third term in Parliament to strengthen money circulation in the region.
Kuku has been re-elected in this year’s National General Election of the Joint Election for his third term.
A constituent who has requested anonymity told Solomon Star that after Kuku ousted Job Dudley Tausinga in the 2014 National General Election and since then, economic development activities in NNGC came to a near standstill.
The constituent said people od NNGC want a commercial market, water supply and sanitation, fisheries, wharves, proper church buildings and commodities marketing centres and other commercial developments.
He said currently NNGC constituents have to travel to Noro on West New Georgia to sell their commodities due to the absence of proper market facilities.
“We have to travel to Noro to access these important services, and we want our re-elected MP John Dean Kuku to look carefully into these areas so he can start developing NNGC by establishing commercial centres,” the constituent said.
The constituent added that during bad weather, they could not travel to Noro to sell their products to earn money for their families.
“It’s suicidal to travel during bad weather with our garden produces because we sometimes risk our lives just to access the market and other services that are not available here in North New Georgia,” he stressed.
Noro has been an economic hub for people in North New Georgia.
The concerned constituent said a commercial centre should be built in North New Georgia to save constituents money from travelling to Noro nearly every week just to sell their garden produces.
He said Kuku should also look at building a new wharf for ships to travel directly to North New Georgia and stimulate cash circulation in the region because when passengers travel to North New Georgia, locals will be able to sell their products to them and earn cash for their families.
