The start of the fifth Telekom S-league (TSL) football season displayed tough contest among all participating clubs which makes it difficult to point out the favourites of this season.
Both new comers, West Honiara FC and Guadalcanal FC has been impressive in their opening games with a 0-0 draw to Real Kakamora FC and a defeat by only a goal to Solomon Warriors respectively.
The results over the weekend is quite different from the start of the previous four seasons where could see a galore of goals scored in the opening matches.
Former champions, Solomon Warriors FC only managed a goal against Guadalcanal FC and Malaita Kingz defeated KOSSA 2-1 all by close margins.
The other two matches between Real Kakamora FC and West Honiara and Koloale and Western United all ended in a draw.
But Warriors coach, the former national player, Moses Toata said, it is just the start of the competition and things will change as the competition progresses on.
Solomon Warriors got off to a positive start defeating new comers, Guadalcanal FC only by a goal 1-0 to nil.
“From the results, yes but I think it is usual for the beginning of the new league.
“In the past it’s always like this where teams pick up later on during the season,” Toata said.
