POLICE Commissioner Frank Prendergast has made it clear that there will be no float parades for winning candidates in each of the three Honiara constituencies.
Mr Prendergast made the announcement following day one of counting in Honiara.
None of the results for the three Honiara constituencies have yet been declared, however Mr Prendergast said that he served the message as a caution to supporters of candidates who are expected to be declared winners of Honiara constituencies.
Mr Prendergast added that those who wish to conduct float parades must do so through the proper channels.
“No float parades will be conducted for winning candidates and supporters,” he stated.
“Those who wish to do so must go through the proper channels and must have authorisation from the Honiara City Council before carrying out their parades,” he said.
Mr Prendergast said that float parades without proper authorisation will be seen as illegal and therefore police will have to intervene.
