All criminal and civil cases in the Honiara Magistrates’ Court have all been stood down for re-listing today.
The reason for this was because there were no magistrates available to hear the cases.
A notice was pinned up on the notice board just after 10am informing all court users, accuseds, lawyers and prosecutors of the re-listing.
Only three magistrates are currently hearing cases in the Honiara Magistrates’ Court of which two are principal magistrates while another is a second class magistrate.
One of the principal magistrates is on a court circuit at Renbel while the two magistrates yesterday attended a meeting.
More than 70 accused whose names were on the court list for yesterday will attend court today for the mention of their cases.
