THE labour mobility recruitment will not take in any new applications for the Work Ready Pool until assessment and interview for all applicants from last year are completed.
Director of External trade George Tuti said currently they are still dealing with those applications from last year.
“Only when all applicants from last year have completed fitness assessment and interviews will the Ministry consult with partners to identify a new period for our citizens to apply for the Work Ready Pool, and it will be announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” he said.
He said there are around 4000 applicants who are still to attend fitness test and interview.
He assured people in the provinces that LMU will provide advance notice of any upcoming application period.
He said LMU will start to top up the work ready pool next month with screening and interview in June, and therefore only target those applicants who applied in August last year.
He said during the 15-day application period (2nd August to 20th August) last year they had received more than 8,000 applicants, and now the LMU is currently completing applicants from day 9 (11th August).
Solomon Islands participation in the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility Scheme continues to be an important priority for the SI Government. The program has grown now to more than 3000 workers SI in Australia.
