WESTERN Province will not relax its COVID-19 measures and protocols in the province.
This was the statement of Western Provincial Disaster Committee (PDC) chairman Jeffrey Wickham following a meeting with the Provincial Health Emergency Operations Committee yesterday.
Mr Wickham said recently the province has seen a widen spread of the virus into communities which they did not anticipate.
He said this is an indication that people are moving around without facemasks in villages and travelling to hotspots without exercising the COVID-19 health measures.
Mr Wickham made this statement as Honiara started to ease restrictions on the movement of people within the Honiara Emergency Zone.
He said with the growing number of cases in Western Province, strict COVID-19 health measures and protocols will be maintained.
“As far as Western Province is concerned, we totally restrict any gatherings such as church services and also inter-travelling on small boats as well as a ban on passenger boats,” he said.
