ABOUT six local students studying in the Philippines have failed to show up at the Manila airport yesterday to board their repatriation flight back to Honiara, Wednesday.
This was revealed by Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare in his nation-wide address yesterday.
“Six students failed to show up at the airport in Manila this morning (yesterday) leading to empty seats on the aircraft arriving tonight (last night).”
PM described the actions of the students as very inconsiderate.
“This is extremely inconsiderate and selfish of the students and therefore we will investigate,” he said.
He warned that if the students deliberately did this, they will be excluded from any repatriation flights and will have to find their own way.
“If these students knowingly decided not to check in today (yesterday), we may exclude them from the government repatriation service and they may be asked to leave the quarantine hotels, and plan for their own way to get home,” he said.
About 133 students arrived last night from Manila with further 39 students set to arrive this weekend on Saturday.
