The upcoming Solomon Cup competition will not feature players who featured for the 2015 and 2016 Telekom S-league.
The decision was relayed at the recent Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) Congress in Honiara.
This means the competition will feature talents from the provinces.
Football fans and supporters see this as a positive move by SIFF to bring out hidden talents from the provinces.
They say it is time provincial players showcase their talents.
This decision will ease criticisms always received by SIFF describing the selection for the national squads as only for Honiara based players.
Ten teams have been confirmed to take part in the competition.
The official draw for the Solomon Cup 2016 has been finalized.
The 10 provincial teams are drawn in two pools with five in each pool.
