YOUTHS in Auki, Malaita Province have questioned the Malaita provincial Youths Coordinator Francis Samo on why the international Youths day was not commemorated in the province this year.
They wanted to know why the provincial youth coordinator fail to organize celebrations to mark international youth’s day for youths around Malaita Province to take part.in this year.
Concerned youths from Auki township pointed out theday is an annual event commemorated on 13th August every year.
Auki youths alleged they have full knowledge of the sum of $16,000-00 being allocated to Malaita provincial youth office from the Ministry of Youth and Women’s Affairs to celebrate youth day this year, adding they wanted to know what happened with the funds.
In view of that the youths called on Mr Samo to provide them with some explanation surrounding the issue.
In response Mr Samo said this year’s international youths day was jointly celebrated with International Peace Day in September this year.
He pointed out it could not be celebrated on 13th August as scheduled yearly because it collided with Malaita Provincial Second Appointed Day celebrations this year.
