DRAFT of the “Safe School Reopening Guideline” is being finalized by the COVID-19 Oversight Committee (NOC).
This was following its meeting with the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development (MEHRD).
According to the National Disaster Council’s National Situation Report 34 issued yesterday, after the draft guideline is finalised, the MEHRD will then present it to Cabinet.
“The guideline acknowledges health advice as a general prerequisite for assisting MEHRD in determining when to start schools.
“This is in addition to the standards outlined in schools’ Standard Operating Procedures for controlling and managing COVID-19 during community transmission,” the report said.
Other priorities of concern include; immunisation, adherence to COVID-19 safe practices in schools, safety guidelines and protocols.
The National Disaster Council said public will be made aware of the “Safe School Reopening Guideline” details once it is endorsed by Cabinet.
Meanwhile, the MEHRD urged students between ages 12 to 18 to get vaccinated.
The National Situation Report is gathered from information issued by the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC).
