The National Olympic Committee of Solomon Islands (NOCSI) is impressed with the response of National Sports Federations (NFs) following a call to resume early training.
Early this month, NOCSI president Martin Rara made a call to all NFs to resume trainings in preparations for upcoming sports competitions both regional and international.
“Following the call, many NFs has hit their respective training grounds to resume training.
“It’s a good sign that these NFs have made a positive respond by resuming to early training.
“Unlike in the past years, this year saw a big number of federations getting more serious in preparations,” he said.
Some federations have made calls for athletes both in Honiara and in the province to make every possible effort to resume training.
Rara said this is one of the important years in sports for Solomon Islands as they eye their participation in the Melanesian Games which will be held in Fiji mid this year.
Rara added the NOCSI is keeping a close eye on the progress of all sports in preparations for upcoming competitions.
Another important participation for 2016 for Solomon Islands is the Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil.
