The vice president of the National Olympic Committee of Solomon Islands (NOSCI) Nihal Senevirantne will leave for Vanuatu this afternoon to attend the chef de mission meeting for the 2017 Mini Games.
The meeting is set for Port Villa, Vanuatu on the 17th and 18th of August 2017.
Seneviratne said the chef de mission meeting is purposely to get updates regarding the 2017 Mini-Games set for Vanuatu.
“The chef de mission meeting is purposely to get updates about team Solomons delegation’s accommodation at the athletes village, their daily meals, transportation to and from the playing venues and other important issues regarding the games,’’ Seneviratne the NOCSI vice president Finance and Marketing told Star Sports last night.
Seneviratne also expressed team Solomon’s preparation for the Mini Games was progressing well.
“All national federations that will be participating in the Mini-Games are committed in their fundraising activities in preparation for the games.
“So we are very pleased about their commitment towards the Mini-Games,” he said.
NOCSI revealed about 182 athletes will be part of the contingent to represent the country at Games in Port Vila, Vanuatu.
The national government will meet our athletes travelling cost and dressed our national reps.
Meanwhile, Solomon Islands will be sending 13 sports namely Athletics & Paralympic, Archery, Basketball, Beach Volley, Boxing, Football, Judo, Netball, Karate, Table Tennis & Paralympic, Tennis, Rugby 7s and Weightlifting to the Mini –Games.
