The Member of Parliament (MP) for North Malaita Senley Levi Filualea is calling to put a stop brutal killing in Malaita Province.
Speaking during the compensation and reconciliation ceremony in Auki the North Malaita MP said there is no room for such brutal killing in Malaita, such cruel act should not be tolerated.
Mr Filualea whose cousin brother was brutally killed in Baegu Asifola recently received compensation on behalf of his tribe from the people of Baegu Asifola and Lau Mbaelelea yesterday in Auki.
While the North Malaita MP accepted the compensation and thankful for those who worked together to ensure the matter is resolved peacefully, he reminded those who gathered at the event that it is time to put a stop to brutal killing.
He said as a person who married to a woman from Baegu, it is sad to see his younger brother who is also married to a woman from Baegu murdered in such a manner.
Mr Filualea said there is blood connection between the people of Baegu and Tobaita and that should be respected at all cost.
“This killing should be the last,” he said.
The North Malaita MP then called on police to fully investigate the brutal killing and bring those responsible to face the full force of law.
Also speaking during the event is Malaita Provincial Premier Daniel Suidani.
Mr Suidani said no family wants to see their loved-ones lives taken in such a brutal manner.
The Premier then thanked the North Malaita MP for humbly accepting the compensation payment and for showing courage in this difficult time to accept the request for reconciliation to mend relationship between the parties.
The Premier also thanked MP for Baegu Asifola Makario Tagini and MP for Lau Mbaelelea Augustine Auga for taking the leading role in resolving the issue in a traditional manner.
