Road users want the worst affected areas along the North Road in Malaita province to be fixed for fear of safety.
According to locals from the Lau and Mbaelelea area, the condition of the road in the area which includes the main North Road and the feeder roads in the constituency has gone from bad to worst after the three weeks of rain.
A local told the Solomon Star in a recent visit to the Lau and Mbaelelea constituency that the road condition in the area needs urgent fixing.
He said the constructor who was allocated to fix the roads in Lau and Mbaelelea has failed to live up to the expectation of the road users.
He said even the machines used by the contractor was left on the road side untouched to this day where he said the condition of the machines is obviously unfit to carry on the road maintenance.
He said the feeder roads that connect the rest of the Lau people to the main North Road are not in their best condition where he calls on the responsible authority and the responsible road contractor to do something about the current poor condition of the road for the safety of the travelling public.
