THE National Referral Hospital (NRH) executive management is now investigating complaints over an alleged “drunk party” inside the senior nurse’s office at the hospital’s Emergency Department.
NRH chief executive officer Dr George Malefoasi said the report is very disturbing and the NRH executive management is treating the matter very seriously.
He said investigation is now underway through the Emergency Department management.
“As part of our investigation we have also requested the Emergency Department to submit an explanatory note in response to the media reports and based on their explanations and findings from overall investigations, we will be undertaking necessary disciplinary actions accordingly if need be,” Dr Malefoasi said.
He also apologise on behalf of the hospital management, the ED Department and staff to patients and caregivers who were at the NRH Emergency Department and reported the matter to the media.
“Should the reports hold truth in them following our investigations, we sincerely apologise to you all and will ensure that the persons responsible for this be held accountable for their inconsiderate, careless and unethical actions,” the CEO said.
He also urged the public to call the hospital’s general phone line 44000 to raise complaints should any suspicious, unacceptable, and deviant behaviour from staff is encountered, so they can be directed to the relevant individuals within the hospital to provide the necessary assistance.
