North-West Guadalcanal Development Association (NWGDA) on Friday’s hands over training materials to the NWGDA football training squad.
The handing over ceremony took place at the NWGDA meeting area at Pisei, North West Guadalcanal where the squad received 25 sets of football bibs, three soccer balls, and one carrying bag.
NWGDA Chairman, Simon Chottu said he believes the North-West Guadalcanal (NWG) youths will achieve their aims through sports.
“I believe in our youths in North West Guadalcanal through training and continuing engagement we will accomplish our goal together,” Chottu said.
NWDGA coach and former player, Michael Tageni said he decided to coach the team because no one has volunteered to coach the youths.
“I came to pass NWGDA meeting area and found out that they needed a coach so I volunteered,” Tageni said.
He added what motivated him to coach the team was to see local players exceeding and sacrifice for the betterment of NWGDA youths.
Currently, the squad is doing their training for the Guadalcanal Province Cup happening early next month.
