Minister of Women, Youth, Children, and Family Affairs (MWYCFA) has assured female members of North West Guadalcanal Development Association (NWGDA) of the government’s support.
Freda Tuki made the assurance during a visit by Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare and his delegation to Pisei in North West Guadalcanal where the association is based.
During the visit, NWGDA Chairman Simon Chottu told the delegation the association would also venture into a tailor for women members.
MWYCFA in her speech stated her ministry is providing funds for women participating in tailoring.
“The ministry offers funds for women in tailoring and we want to encourage more young women to participate in tailor,” Ms. Tuki said.
She added the 2020 budget for women has already been exhausted; therefore the association will need to apply for the 2021 budget.
The NWGDA chairman thanked the minister for the green light in assuring the association with the ministry’s support.
The majority of NWGDA women members who were at the occasion were overwhelmed with the assurance.
