THE Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) was given a timely support, thanks to Aotearoa New Zealand, which supported the country with medical supplies late last month.
This is part of New Zealand Government’s support to the country. The support consisted of several hundred cartons of disposable medical face-masks blue, 3M N95 masks, hospital mattresses, pillowcases and single white flat sheets.
They will be distributed and used by a number of hospitals and clinics in the country.
The support comes as the country prepares to reopen the international border in a fortnight.
A statement from New Zealand High Commission Office in Honiara said, the medical supplies are part of Aotearoa New Zealand’s ongoing support towards the Government and people of Solomon Islands.
The medical supplies were airlifted to Honiara on a Royal New Zealand Air Force flight on 27 May 2022
And for that the supplies, the New Zealand High Commission has acknowledged the New Zealand Defense Force (NZDF) for its support in ensuring the supplies arrived in the country.
“Tagio tumas to our NZDF colleagues for supporting the deployment of medical supplies for communities in Solomon Islands which arrived safely in Honiara on a recent Royal New Zealand Air Force flight,” the statement said.
The items were delivered to the National Medical Store of the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) by the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) for distribution across the provinces.
The NZ Government since the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country early this year has been providing support in medical assistance.
