THE New Zealand government through the High Commissioner’s agency in Honiara has been acknowledged by the Honiara Council of Women (HCW) for donating a marquee and tents yesterday.
It was given to the women’s group as support from the High commissioner’s office for outdoor activities.
Upon receiving the gifts, the President of HCW Martha Alacky said, that her executive is very thankful to the NZ High Commissioner to Solomon Islands Her Excellency (H.E) Ms Marion Crawshaw for the receptive and gesture of good will and support to the group with the tents that they will be using throughout the course of the innovation expo.
She added that they will make sure that the High Commissioner’s office is kept abreast with reports that emanate from the program.
Speaking on behalf of H.E Ms Marion Crawshaw, her counsellor Naomi Kyriacopoulos stated that the tents and the marquee are designed for a specific purpose, to be a fairly long – term solution to some of HCW’s exhibition needs.
Ms Kyriacopoulos added that the gifts also serve as a reminder of what can be achieved when a group of like-minded, focused and dedicated people decide to be the change they wanted to see.
In her closing remarks, she told HCW members that the NZ High Commissioner also sends her warmest regards and wished them a success in the events that the tents are used for.
