President of the Solomon Islands Football federation (SIFF) William Lai has described the visit of the FIFA Vice president and president of the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC), David Chung as very important for the development of football in the country.
Chung arrived yesterday along with the Secretary General of OFC, Tai Nicholas.
Lai said since his executive came into power, this is the first time Chung has returned to visit the country.
He briefly outlined the purpose of Chung’s visit to the country.
“After the normalizing committee ended their term, FIFA has regained trust thus allowed a new executive to be elected.
“This visit will give the OFC president to see for himself how the SIFF administration runs football affairs in the country.
“An important issue which will be discussed will be the projects such as the futsal facility.
“Another project we are looking at is hosting the Oceania U16 and U19 championship next year.
“These are some things we will discuss,” he said in brief.
